Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.
