Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
